Gutter trash

trashFebruary 8, 2008

I wouldn’t want to stand in that dirty gutter, either. Q-tips, pencil ends, old rubberbands–you’d never know that gutter was swept just two weeks earlier. The city sends out a street sweeper every now and then, too. Ha!

The calm after the storm

A trash can and a recycle can, turned from each otherJanuary 25, 2008

Looks like these two had a falling out, doesn’t it? See how the recycle can has turned away like it doesn’t have a word to say to the other.

Yes, they can have some pie

Well-behaved trash cansJanuary 11, 2008

And that is what well-behaved cans look like. Don’t they look sweet? Like they’re lined up for Sunday school.

The horror

the horror of an abandoned trash canDecember 28, 2007

For this I became a homeowner and a proud can guardian. I’ve done my best — the can is never overfilled, it’s cleaned regularly, it has its own assigned spot, and we never kick it — and it repays our care with this dissolute behavior.

I cannot but sorrow for it. Surely it feels no joy in lying abandoned in the cold wet street.
