The horror
December 28, 2007
For this I became a homeowner and a proud can guardian. I’ve done my best — the can is never overfilled, it’s cleaned regularly, it has its own assigned spot, and we never kick it — and it repays our care with this dissolute behavior.
I cannot but sorrow for it. Surely it feels no joy in lying abandoned in the cold wet street.

I’m going to steal this line
“Silence, traitor! Death is your doom now.”
And this one:
“I have a doom laid on me, a doom that concerns us all, and I seek your help.”

Our morning visitor
Just about had a heart attack this morning. First thing when we get up in the morning we let the cats in the garage in and out, to eat or poop, whichever. The garage’s outside door was left open. I go out to the garage, and there’s this huge ugly cat with a long pointy snout and a hairless tail. Oooohaaahhhuhhhhh, I groaned. The creature circled like it didn’t know where the outside door was, then left. Not running. Not scared. That was me.
That door’s not staying open when it’s dark outside any more. It’s not just the neighborhood cats freeloading off us, after all.
